Under the direction of its founder, Rick Falato, Yorkville Big Band has been performing the music of the 1940’s and 50’s for nearly 25 years. According to Farnsworth House Executive Director, Maurice D. Parrish, “The Farnsworth House was designed and built during the height of the big band era. We want to provide our friends in this community with the unique opportunity to experience the interplay between these two outstanding examples of the creative spirit of that era, which continues to influence and inspire artists today. We are looking forward to this being a fun event for everyone.”
This concert is part of a recurring series of Farnsworth House programs. The concert is casual and attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and/or blankets. Guests may bring snacks and non-alcoholic beverages only onto the property. Patrons who arrive before 4:30 p.m. will have an opportunity to visit the interior of the house and enjoy brief presentations on its history given by tour guides.
